A 6-step framework that your content is missing

I’ve been writing online for 6+ years.
Built a brand that brought in 130,000+ followers.
Worked with over 300 founders and executives.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Storytelling isn’t just nice to have.
It’s the difference between “cool post” and “I need to work with you.”
But most people don’t know how to write stories that actually work on LinkedIn.
They either write too vague and emotional…
Or too detailed and instructional.
Or worst of all, try to mimic stories from “LinkedIn influencers” that don’t feel real.
So here’s how I break it down for my clients…( especially the ones who say):
“But I don’t have a story worth telling.”
Every founder has a story.
But not every founder knows how to tell it.
That’s where structure comes in.
I teach my clients a 6-step narrative framework (based on the work of William Labov, a sociolinguist who studied how we remember stories):
Here’s the classic storytelling framework that you can use:
1. Abstract:
Start with something that captivates attention.
(e.g. “This morning something strange happened to me…“)
2. Orientation:
Set the scene by introducing the characters, client examples and setting.
(Who? Where? When?)
3. Complicating Action:
Introduce the problem to be solved.
(Describe with details)
4. Resolution:
Reveal the solution to the problem
(How? What did you do next?)
5. Evaluation:
Explain the outcome of the story.
(What changed? What was the result?)
6. Coda:
Add a moral or takeaway
(What is the lesson?)
Every viral post I’ve written uses some version of this.
So do my clients’ most profitable ones.
Before you post a story, ask:
1. “What emotion am I inviting?”
Stories make people feel something.
Relief, surprise, tension, pride: pick one and lean into it.
2. “Where’s the turning point?”
Good stories have a before & after.Make sure to emphasise on that point.
3. “Is there a human in it?”
Write about people and characters, so that readers can relate with them.
Don’t just tell stories.
Tell them with purpose.
Initiate that conversion.
Because people don’t necessarily work with the experts.
They work with people they trust.
People who get it.
People who feel real.
And nothing shows that faster than a well-told story.
So here is why story-based LinkedIn content WORKS:
It connects quickly.
It keeps people reading.
And it builds trust. FAST.
So if you’ve been writing tips but not getting traction...
If your story feels “boring” or “not relevant”...
If you’re showing up but still blending in...
It’s not about posting more..
It’s about telling stories.
And that’s how I’ve helped founders sign clients not just for one project, but for years.
If you want help building your brand this way, just reply ‘LinkedIn’ and I’ll be in touch.
