I wish I hadn’t done that
Avoid my biggest business regret

Entrepreneurship is sold as freedom.
But here’s the truth:
That freedom?
It’s limited.
Sure, maybe 50% of the time, you get to call the shots.
But the rest?
You’re responding to:
1. Market demand
2. Client needs
3. Technological shifts
And the longer you’re in business, the more you realise, it’s not just about what you want to do.
It’s about agility and how you adapt.
I’ve been running Tima Media since 2019.
In that time:
– I’ve grown an audience of over 130,000
– Worked with 300+ clients
– Spoken on stages around the world
By most standards, that looks like success.
Like I’ve got it all figured out.
I haven’t figured it all out as I always say “I’m still learning.”
But here’s something I got wrong along the way:
I didn’t have a newsletter.
It’s not that I didn’t think I needed one.
I knew I needed one.
But I didn’t know how to do it.
I was overthinking it.
I didn’t understand the tech.
And honestly? I didn’t believe people wanted to hear from me that way.
I thought … ‘LinkedIn is enough.’
But I was wrong.
Because a newsletter isn’t just a content channel.
It’s proximity. It’s connection. It’s depth.
So here’s what I’ve learnt:
1. It gives you space to speak freely
No algorithm.
No format rules.
No pressure to perform.
You can share the real behind-the-scenes.
The stories you hold back on social.
The things that don’t always fit into your regular content strategy.
You’re often speaking to your audience hoping your content connects with them.
But in a newsletter?
You’re writing directly to them.
That’s where trust is built.
That’s how real connection forms.
2. It builds closer proximity to your audience
I’ve been speaking about controversial topics for years…
COVID, war, world politics, religion.
And while I’ve always stood by my values, I’ve seen what happens when you go against the grain:
– Hate comments
– Unfollows
– Sharp drops in visibility
The truth is, you don’t own your audience on social media.
Any platform can change its algorithm.
Any platform can shut down.
A newsletter allows you to maintain connection, on your terms.
It brings you and your audience closer without interference.
3. It’s easier to serve and support your people
You don’t need tens of thousands of followers.
You just need the right people.
1,000 loyal subscribers who trust you.
That’s more valuable than 100,000 who scroll past your posts.
Because they open your emails.
They read your words.
They respond.
They’re already invested.
Your newsletter becomes the place where meaningful conversations happen, and deep connections are built… naturally, consistently, quietly.
That’s why with my private 1:1 coaching clients, this is one of the very first things we talk about…
Regardless of how many followers they have.
Because a newsletter is no longer optional.
It’s essential.
If you’d like my help building your personal brand and creating a deeper connection with your audience, reply “LI” and I’ll reach out.
I genuinely appreciate you being here.
And if this newsletter ever doesn’t feel helpful, I’d truly appreciate hearing your thoughts ♥️.

P.S. I'm now accepting the final batch of 1:1 coaching clients before I launch my group cohort.
P.P.S. This isn’t the end of 1:1 coaching. I’ll continue offering it alongside the group program after this round.
